Aunty Dee is a free online tool that can be accessed on smartphones, tablets and desktop computers. The tool aims to help people work through a problem or problems. By encouraging users to think about, reflect and explore their problems in a structured way, users can proactively find solutions to their problems and then act. Although anyone can use the tool, it is aimed at Pacific and Maori young people aged 14-25 years. The website also has a library of tips and tricks for some common problems such as trouble sleeping or problems with relationships, friends, health and school.

What is safety planning? If you or someone close to you is experiencing suicidal thoughts or feelings, safety planning can help you get through the tough moments. It involves creating a structured plan – ideally with support from your health professional or someone you trust – that you work through when you’re experiencing suicidal thoughts, feelings, distress or crisis.
BeyondNow is designed to be used as part of your overall mental wellbeing and safety strategy. It is not intended to be your only form of support. Ideally you should work with a health professional or support person to create your plan.

An app to help teenagers and young adults cope with anxiety.
In this app, users to choose from a list of situations they want help with such as ‘dealing with conflict’ and ‘coping with test anxiety’. They are guided through steps to learn about that anxiety problem and set up a personalised plan for coping better. The app allows users to rate and keep track of their anxiety levels and provides self-help tools such as relaxation exercises, visualisations, mindfulness strategies and inspirational quotes.

What is SPARX?
SPARX is a computer program that helps young people with mild to moderate depression, anxiety or stress. It is based on a type of ‘talking therapy’ called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
- At the start of SPARX you meet the Guide, who explains what SPARX is and how it could help you.
- You then customise your avatar and journey to the seven provinces to complete quests that restore the world’s balance and defeat the pesky negative thoughts, called Gnats.
- Along the way, you will meet different characters, solve puzzles and complete mini games.
- As you complete each quest, the Guide will explain how you can use your new skills to feel better, solve problems and enjoy life in the real world. Each level takes about half an hour.
